Dr. Kira Mccabe

Biography

Kira O. McCabe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carleton University. Her primary research area explores personality motivation integrated with concepts of goal pursuit in daily life. She investigates how individuals use their personality traits and momentary personality states to achieve various goals, such as becoming more extraverted to pursue a fun experience. Kira's work focuses on individual differences, such as personality traits, cognitive abilities, and educational-vocational interests, and how they predict career success, health, and psychological well-being. She has conducted diverse research projects, including studies on how individual differences among graduate students can predict success in STEM fields and the long-term health outcomes of intellectually precocious individuals. Her work is aimed at understanding the broader connections between personality traits and existing goal constructs.
