Biography

Kira Vader is an Associate Teaching Professor in the MEDEX program at the University of Washington. She graduated from the Duke University Physician Assistant Program in 2002 and began her professional career in 2005 as the course chair for Anatomy Physiology. Kira has clinical experience in cardiology, inpatient internal medicine, urgent care, and occupational medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and holds a master’s degree in cross-cultural studies from Fuller Theological Seminary. Kira developed a passion for medicine at a young age while growing up on Whidbey Island, where she joined the local volunteer fire department at age 16 and became an EMT when she turned 18. Her desire to provide higher-level care led her to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. She is continually fascinated by the complexity of the human body and is committed to educating the next generation of Physician Assistants, believing that quality healthcare is a basic human right. In addition to her teaching and clinical responsibilities, Kira volunteers at a free clinic in her community.
