Biography

Kiril Trpkov is a Professor at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine, leading the Genitourinary Pathology Group within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is a consultant at the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology and the Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary, Canada. Trpkov holds an MD and FRCPC in Anatomical Pathology and is certified by the American Board of Pathology. He established the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at Rockyview General Hospital, which is recognized as one of the largest centralized Uropathology Centres in Canada and North America. With over 160 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters to his name, he has contributed significantly to the field. He has been actively involved in several national and international organizations, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) and the International Academy of Pathology (IAP), and has played crucial roles in forming and leading expert panel committees for the World Health Organization (WHO). As a founding member and President of the Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS), established in 2018, he has advanced the practice, research, and education in urologic pathology on a global scale. His research primarily focuses on urologic pathology, including prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer, and non-neoplastic kidney pathology.
