Biography

Kirsten Davies has extensive experience in education, policy, governance, management, and marketing, having held senior management and directorship roles. She holds PhDs in Sustainable Management and International Environmental Law and has been awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship to conduct research in the USA, UK, and Japan. In 2009, she received the Australian Government Endeavour Award for a Research Fellowship to conduct sustainability research in Vanuatu. Since 2014, she has served as an Expert Adviser and Co-ordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). Kirsten is also a member of the Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and contributed to the drafting of the Declaration on Human Rights and Climate Change. Her role as Director of International Engagement involves developing research collaborations with international institutions, such as the University of the South Pacific Law School and Universität Hamburg. She has supervised multiple doctoral candidates and has been an academic mentor for various programs. Kirsten's research interests focus on environmental rights, community engagement, and climate change litigation.
