Biography

Kirsten Nieto, M.D., is an associate professor in the departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Dell Medical School. Board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, she works as a hospitalist with expertise in the care of sick, hospitalized adults and children. Dr. Nieto supervises internal medicine and pediatric residents, as well as medical students at Dell Seton Medical Center and Dell Children’s Medical Center. Previously, she served as the interim division chief of Hospital Medicine, leading the initial inpatient COVID-19 response among hospitalists and internal medicine residents. In 2020, she was recognized as physician of the year by the medical staff at Dell Seton. Dr. Nieto's professional interests include bridging the transition from pediatric to adult health care for individuals with complex chronic conditions that begin in childhood, evidence-based opioid-sparing pain management strategies, and the use of clinical informatics to improve health outcomes. Outside of her academic responsibilities, she enjoys coaching her twin daughters in soccer and exploring Texas' state and national parks.
