Dr. Kirsten Thisted

Biography

Kirsten Thisted is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in minority-majority relations and postcolonial studies. With a comprehensive academic background, she has held various positions at the Institute of Nordic Philology and served as a Fulbright Professor at the University of Wisconsin. Her research primarily focuses on the dynamics of cultural memory and representation through the lens of Danish-Greenlandic relations. Thisted has participated in numerous international research projects exploring themes such as cultural translation, emotional economies, and the particularities of Greenlandic literature. She is actively involved in initiatives addressing the sustainable development of Arctic communities. Thisted’s significant contributions include her work on the relationship between pride and shame in postcolonial contexts, funded by the Augustinus Foundation. Her publications include edited volumes on narratives of identity in the North Atlantic region and exploration of emotional aspects in resource extraction debates. In addition to her research, she has been engaged in guest lectures across various universities and has contributed to discussions on the new narratives in Nordic literature, reflecting on the impact of colonial legacies.
