Dr. Kirsten Wilkins

Biography

Kirsten Wilkins is a Professor at Yale School of Medicine, where she serves as the Director of Medical Student Education and Interim Deputy Chair of Education in the Department of Psychiatry. She also holds the position of Associate Chief of Mental Health at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, CT. With a clinical focus on outpatient geriatric psychiatry, she is deeply involved in the education of medical students, physician assistant students, psychiatry residents, and fellows. Wilkins has served in key leadership roles, including as the Psychiatry Clerkship Director and the Executive Director of the Yale Interprofessional Longitudinal Clinical Experience. Her involvement extends to national committees, where she has contributed significantly to the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. With a focus on scholarly activities, she has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, emphasizing her research interests in medical education related to geriatric psychiatry, learning climate, and the integration of mental health into primary care. Additionally, she is dedicated to understanding health professional attitudes towards psychosocial aspects of medicine and medical student mental health.
