Kirstie Lithgow is an endocrinologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. After completing medical school, she pursued internal medicine and endocrinology training in Calgary, followed by additional fellowship training in pituitary disease and neuroendocrine tumors in Birmingham, UK. Her clinical research interests focus on pituitary tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, and improving care for patients affected by endocrine cancers. Her ongoing research includes the use of diagnostic imaging for surveillance of patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP NET), investigating the implications of radiation exposure from long-term surveillance, and analyzing data on the role of functional imaging with Ga-68 DOTATATE PET CT in predicting recurrence. Additionally, she is the site lead for a multisite Canadian study assessing neurocognition in patients with Stage III and Stage IV neuroendocrine tumors (SNAPSHOT study).
