Biography

Kirstin Mitchell is a Professor at the University of Glasgow, co-leading the Sexual Health and Wellbeing group within the Public Health Unit. Her team specializes in co-production, qualitative research, survey research, and intervention design evaluation, primarily focusing on sexual wellbeing and gender-based violence. She has published widely in the field of sexual and reproductive health and is actively involved in several research collaborations, including the ENACT study on Glasgow's safe drug consumption facility and the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles. Kirstin's previous work includes leading a community-based HIV intervention in Uganda and serving as a lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the National Oversight Committee for Sexual Health BBV Scotland and has contributed to various initiatives aimed at improving sexual health nationally. Her education includes a BSc from Oxford University, an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a PhD in sexual health from the same institution. In addition to her academic work, Kirstin is engaged in teaching and supervising students in the fields of public health and social research methods, emphasizing the importance of addressing inequalities in sexual health. She is recognized for her contributions to the field through various professional and learned societies.
