Biography

Kirsty Wright joined the Institute of Health and Wellbeing as a Research Assistant at the Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory. Her projects have focused on addressing health inequalities experienced by individuals with intellectual disabilities. She graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MA in Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Social Organizational Psychology at the University of Exeter, having also entered a PhD program in Psychological Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Her doctoral research centers on mental health and wellbeing in fathers of children with intellectual disabilities. She has actively contributed to the field through various projects related to the health and wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities and their familial carers, and conducts secondary data analysis to explore these issues further. Additionally, she has received grants and awards during her time at the University of Glasgow, including a Doctoral Fellowship from the Baily Thomas Charitable Fund from 2016 to 2019. Aside from her research activities, she teaches a Post-Graduate Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support and supervises students in Master's programs focused on Global Mental Health and Clinical Psychology. Wright has previously lectured at Glasgow Caledonian University, sharing her expertise in nursing and research methods.
