Dr. Kitty Chan

Biography

Kitty Kay Chan is a Professor of Professional Practice in the Applied Analytics program at Columbia University's School of Professional Studies, where she also serves as the Academic Director. With an extensive career that spans both the private and public sectors, Dr. Chan specializes in quantitative analysis and has practical applications in regulatory oversight, law enforcement, performance damage valuation, and strategic development. Her past roles include Chief Data Analytics Officer for New York State, where she led strategies for data analytics across various state agencies. She has also functioned as Chief Economist for the New York State Department of Financial Services, overseeing the regulation of numerous financial institutions and providing risk assessment analysis. Dr. Chan has held positions in various agencies, including the New York State Attorney General's Office and the Federal Communications Commission, applying her expertise in economic analysis to a wide range of issues including mergers, market timing, and economic development. She has contributed to academic journals and has been involved in multiple global initiatives. Dr. Chan is a National Science Foundation Fellow and holds degrees in Economics and a Doctoral Certificate in Environmental Sciences from the University of Southern California.
