Klaas Landsman is a Professor at Radboud University in the field of Mathematical Physics. He completed his PhD in 1989 at the University of Amsterdam, focusing on quantum field theory at high temperatures. From 1989 to 1997, he worked at the University of Cambridge, during which he also spent time in Hamburg, primarily exploring the connection between classical and quantum physics using non-commutative geometry. He has authored significant monographs including 'Mathematical Topics in Classical Quantum Mechanics' (Springer, 1998) and 'Foundations of Quantum Theory: Classical Concepts and Operator Algebras' (Springer, 2017). Recently, he published 'Foundations of General Relativity' (Radboud University Press, 2022). His research interests encompass black hole thermodynamics and the foundations of statistical mechanics. Landsman has held prestigious fellowships including EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow in the UK and Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in Germany. He is also a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2019 and received the Spinoza Prize in 2022. With an active research profile, he has supervised 15 PhD students and 30 Master students and contributed to establishing various institutes related to mathematics and physics.
