Klaudia Kuiper is a Full Professor in Earth Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research interests primarily focus on intercalibration of astronomical isotopic timescales and the application of 40Ar/39Ar dating to stratigraphic problems. She effectively combines astronomical dating with high precision radio-isotopic methods in her research, aiming to improve geological time scale calibration through technique development and refinement. Klaudia obtained her Gymnasium B diploma in 1992 and completed her propaedeuse in Geology at Utrecht University. She earned her MS degree in Environmental Geochemistry in 1997 from the same institution, with research concentrating on denitrification processes in soils and an integrated geochemical study of soil-water quality in Espírito Santo, Brazil. Her PhD project, which she defended in November 2003, involved intercalibration of radioisotopic and astronomical time scales focusing on the Mediterranean Neogene. Following her PhD, she transitioned to a post-doctoral role and currently holds a position as an Associate Professor in the Cluster of Geology and Geochemistry at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Klaudia also engages in ancillary activities related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
