Dr. Klaus Ehrmann

Biography

Klaus Ehrmann is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, associated with the School of Optometry and Vision Science. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, an MSc in Machine Design, and a BEng in Mechatronics, with professional qualifications that include work across various countries such as the USA, Israel, Germany, and the UK. He has extensive experience in research and development, particularly in the field of vision correction technology. As the Director of Technology at nthalmic technologies, which he co-founded, he is instrumental in leading the R&D efforts related to instrumentation and metrology for novel optical designs. He has held significant positions such as developing instrumentation for the Brien Holden Vision Institute. Klaus has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and holds several patents related to contact lens instrumentation. His research interests revolve around innovative methods and products for vision correction devices, involving contact lenses and spectacles, and enhancing vision-related measurements. He actively participates in international conferences as an invited speaker, discussing topics such as translational research and optical metrology. Klaus's ongoing research efforts aim to improve diagnosis and treatment for ocular discomfort and to investigate the quality of contact lens manufacturing.
