Professor Dr. Klaus Hellgardt

Biography

Klaus Hellgardt has been a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London since 2014. He has previously held the position of Reader from 2008 to 2014 and has contributed significantly to the field of Chemical Engineering through various roles, including Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and Loughborough University. His academic journey includes a rich background in research, starting with his role as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London and progressing through to his PhD DIC at the same institution. He also served as a visiting professor at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, University of Tokyo. Hellgardt's research spans sustainable reaction engineering and catalysis, focusing on innovative processes such as biofuels production and flow chemistry. His expertise extends to unconventional fuel cells and hydrotreating methods, emphasizing the importance of sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
