Professor Klavs Jensen’s research spans thermochemistry, electrochemistry, photochemistry, batch flow kinetics optimization, automation, and machine learning to develop new methods that accelerate materials discovery and development. His lab explores new automated reaction systems integrated with online analytics, robotics, and optimization, leveraging machine learning algorithms for autonomous discovery. He collaborates with colleagues at MIT’s Machine Learning Pharmaceutical Discovery Synthesis Consortium to develop new algorithms for the synthesis planning process in chemistry. Professor Jensen received his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark in 1976 and his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1980. His work can be found in more than 490 journal articles, 180 conference presentations, and 63 patents. He also serves as the inaugural editor-in-chief of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s journal, Reaction Chemistry Engineering.
