Biography

Knut Laaser is a Senior Lecturer in Employment Relations at King's Business School and a research theme lead at the Sustainable Leadership Centre. His research interests focus on decent work and economic growth, particularly the politics of meaningful and meaningless work, moral economy, labor process analysis, and the changing nature of bank work. Before joining King's, Dr. Laaser served as a Senior Researcher and Interim Professor at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Stirling. He has held positions as a recurring Summer School Visiting Professor at Aarhus Business School and has contributed to leading academic journals such as Work, Employment and Society and The International Journal of Human Resource Management. His recent co-authored work, "Politics of Working Life: Meaningful Waged Work," published by Cambridge University Press in 2023, reflects his commitment to understanding labor dynamics. Dr. Laaser has served as an editor and guest editor for various special issues and has been involved in keynote presentations at international conferences, including the ADAPT conference in 2023 and the Work, Employment and Society Online Conference in 2024. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is currently accepting new PhD students.
