Biography

Kobie van Krieken studies the relationship between narrative form and processing effects in communicative contexts. His research interests include Narrative Communication, Journalism, and Cognitive Linguistics. He has received multiple awards, including the Radboud Women Professors Network Award and the AVT/Anéla Dissertation Award. He was also awarded the NWO Veni Grant for his project on linguistic viewpoint markers' influence on Theory of Mind and the role of reading stories in improving mind-reading abilities in real-world contexts. His current project explores the fear of death through the lens of eudaimonic entertainment, awarded under the NWO Open Competition. In 2017, he was recognized as Lecturer of the Year for both the Bachelor and Master programs in Communication Information Studies. Kobie is also an ancillary editor for the journal Cognitive Linguistics, starting in August 2025.
