Professor Dr. Koel Banerjee

Biography

Koel Banerjee is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. She holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and an MPhil, MA, and BA from the Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad, India, and Presidency University in Kolkata, India respectively. Her research interests are diverse, intersecting fields such as Digital Humanities, Digital Media, and Hindi Literary Cultural Studies. She is invested in exploring various issues including Aesthetics, Technology, Cinema Studies, Diaspora Studies, Film History, Theory, History, Memory, Language, Popular Culture, Literary Theory, Mediatized Culture, Migration, Post-Colonialism, Television Studies, and Translation. Koel's teaching encompasses a range of subjects, seen in her courses like Special Topics, Introduction to Film, American Popular Film Genres, Bollywood Cinema, and Theory & Foundations. These interests underscore her commitment to examining how media shapes cultural narratives in various contexts.
