Konstantia Zarkogianni received her MEng in Electrical Computer Engineering in 2003 from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by an MSc in Electronic Computer Engineering in 2005 from the Technical University of Crete. She earned her PhD degree in 2011 from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. In October 2017, she was appointed as a permanent laboratory teaching staff member at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA and became an Associate Professor in Human-Centered AI at Maastricht University in 2023. Her research primarily focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically Machine Learning,Explainable AI, knowledge bases and reasoning, and recommender systems, along with decision intelligence. She has authored or co-authored 18 papers in refereed international journals and over 30 papers in international conference proceedings. Zarkogianni also participated in several Greek and EU-funded projects as a research associate and principal investigator. She hasbeen a guest editor for a special issue on Emerging Technologies for Diabetes Mellitus in the Springer Journal of Medical Biological Engineering Computing. As a member of the Editorial Board for SpringerPlus since 2016, she also reviews for various scientific journals including IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering and Elsevier's Journal of Biomedical Informatics. Zarkogianni is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Technical Chamber of Greece. Her expertise lies in the design and development of intelligent decision support systems capable of producing personalized and adaptive predictions and recommendations, particularly focusing on mitigating biases in AI-aided decision-making processes. She also works in biomedical health informatics, managing and processing multi-source biomedical data to deliver preventive, predictive, personalized, and participatory solutions for chronic disease management.
