Biography

Konstantinos Alexakis received professional training in architecture from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and in landscape architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He has worked as an architect in Greece and as a landscape architect in the USA. He subsequently joined the University of Pennsylvania as a doctoral student, where he completed his thesis on the history of landscape architecture in 2021. His dissertation focused on horticultural practices and English gardening theories that led, during the years 1880-1930, to the development of a profession in America: landscape architecture. In 2022, having already worked as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and as an assistant professor at the University of Florida, he was appointed assistant professor at the University of Montreal. He teaches urban landscape workshops, courses in the history and theory of landscape architecture, and courses in sustainable development.
