Biography

Konstantinos P. Giapis is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. He obtained his Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens in 1984 and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1989. He served as an Lacey Instructor at Caltech from 1992 to 1993, an Assistant Professor from 1993 to 1998, an Associate Professor from 1999 to 2010, and has been a Professor since 2010. His research focuses on ion-surface interaction dynamics, plasma processing, materials nanoscale confinement, and various aspects of nanotechnology. He is actively involved in teaching a range of courses relating to chemical engineering design and heterogeneous reaction kinetics, often engaging students in hands-on projects that explore chemical processes and material synthesis.
