Korey Pereira earned a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, he remained involved with the department, mixing end-of-semester student films. In 2018, he joined the faculty as a Lecturer, and in 2023, he accepted the position of Assistant Professor Practice and Audio Area Head. He has guest lectured at Texas State University, East Tennessee State University, and Syracuse University, teaching a number of courses at the University of Texas. Korey is the founder of Soularity Sound, a post-production sound company based in Austin, Texas, and works with Soundcrafter and various Austin and Los Angeles-based crews as a Dialogue Editor, Foley Mixer, and Supervising Sound Editor. In 2020, he upgraded his studio to support Dolby Atmos mixing and expanded into 360 spatial audio and VR Atmos mixing for video games. He started a recurring column called Tech Corner in Wavelength, the official magazine of the Motion Picture Sound Editors and regularly contributes to ProSoundEffects.com as a Production Expert. Korey is an active member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Motion Picture Sound Editors in 2021. In 2022, he was awarded a Primetime Emmy for sound editing work on Stranger Things Season 4, and in 2023, he received a Golden Reel nomination for his work on Stranger Things and won for his work on Prey. His credits include collaborations with notable filmmakers like Richard Linklater and Robert Rodriguez, as well as television series such as Shipping Wars, Law & Order, 600-lb Life, and Fixer Upper: Welcome Home.
