Biography

Kostas Kontogiannis is a Professor at the Lassonde School of Engineering, specializing in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He earned his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the University of Patras in Greece, followed by an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from McGill University in Canada. Before joining York University, he held a tenured Associate Professor position in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and served as a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. At Western University, he was the Professor in the Department of Computer Science and held a Research Chair in Software Engineering for Cyber-Physical Systems. His research interests encompass software system analytics, DevOps, Cyber-Physical Systems, and model-driven engineering. Kontogiannis has authored over a hundred influential conference papers, journals, and book chapters, focusing on software maintenance, system analysis, fault localization, and software transformation, which have garnered significant citations. He has received numerous awards, including patents from IBM and recognition for influential papers (WCRE/SANER, CASCON). Additionally, he has been a faculty fellow at the IBM Center for Advanced Studies and served in various roles for IEEE conferences related to Software Engineering.
