Biography

Kostas Margellos received his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2008. He earned his Ph.D. in Automatic Control from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in November 2012, under the supervision of Prof. John Lygeros. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich until December 2013, continuing his research with Prof. John Lygeros. He then moved to UC Berkeley, where he was a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, working with Prof. Shmuel Oren from January 2014 to January 2015. Subsequently, he joined the Politecnico di Milano as a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Electronics, Information Bioengineering, working with Prof. Maria Prandini until February 2016. In March 2016, he joined the Control Group at the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford as an Associate Professor and is an Official Fellow of Reuben College and a Lecturer at Worcester College. He has received several awards, including the Teaching Excellence Award from the Department of Engineering Science in 2021 and the ETH Medal for his outstanding doctoral dissertation. He also serves as an Associate Editor for Automatica and the IEEE Conference Editorial Board.
