Biography

Kostas Tsilidis is an Associate Professor of Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London. He leads the World Cancer Research Fund Global Cancer Update Programme and performs evidence syntheses on the associations of diet, adiposity, and physical activity with cancer risk and survival. He holds a professorship in Epidemiology at the University of Ioannina School of Medicine in Greece. Tsilidis trained at the University of Athens, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, followed by a Master's in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, where he also earned a Master of Health Science in Biostatistics and a PhD in Epidemiology. He completed post-doctoral training in cancer epidemiology at the University of Oxford in the UK. His research focuses on the role of genetic, dietary, metabolic, and hormonal pathways in cancer development and prognosis. Additionally, he is interested in evidence synthesis methods and applications, including Mendelian randomization and pharmaco-epidemiology, as well as the methodological assessment and correction of systematic errors in biomedical literature.
