Biography

Kotoka Suzuki is a composer focusing on sound art and instrumental practices. She has produced large-scale multimedia works and spatial interactive audio-visual pieces for concert installation settings, collaborating with artists and scholars across various disciplines. Her work engages deeply with the visual, conceiving sound as a physical form manipulated through sculptural practices in composition. It often reflects elements of life, breath, and wind. Suzuki's work has been featured internationally by performers such as the Arditti String Quartet, eighth blackbird, and the Pacifica String Quartet, among others, at numerous venues and festivals like Deutschlandradio-Ultraschall Berlin, Lucerne Festival, and the ISCM World Music Days. She has received several awards, including the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and the Bourges Prize for Multimedia. In addition, she has held residencies at various prestigious art colonies and holds degrees from Indiana University and Stanford University in composition.
