Biography

Kranthi K. Mandadapu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2005, followed by an M.S. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007, and a Ph.D. from the same institution in 2011. After completing his doctoral work, Mandadapu undertook postdoctoral research at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore from 2011 to 2013 and at the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016. His research focuses on understanding the physical behaviors of materials across multiple length and time scales, particularly at the intersection of statistical mechanics, continuum mechanics, and applied mathematics. Mandadapu's work emphasizes the emergent behaviors of materials at larger scales, driven by their properties at smaller scales, and he is particularly interested in the principles governing the organization of biological membranes, the physics of active matter, and the physical principles governing amorphous systems and glassy dynamics.
