Biography

Krishna Garikipati obtained his PhD from Stanford University in 1996 and subsequently engaged in post-doctoral work before joining the University of Michigan in 2000, where he advanced to Professor. From 2016 to 2022, he served as Director of the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery & Engineering (MICDE). In January 2024, he transitioned to the University of Southern California as a Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. His research primarily focuses on scientific machine learning and computational science, with applications in biophysics, mathematical biology, materials physics, and nonlinear mechanics. Garikipati has received numerous accolades, including the Department of Energy Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). He has held the Humboldt Research Fellowship and will receive the Oden Medal from the Association for Computational Mechanics in 2025. He is involved with various prominent scientific bodies and has been a visiting scholar at the Computational Biology Flatiron Institute of the Simons Foundation.
