Biography

Krishna D. Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master’s degree from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, and a Bachelor's degree from the University College of Engineering. His research interests include spacecraft dynamics control, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, genetic algorithms, genetic programming, and miniature wireless systems. Over seven years, Kumar has guided graduate students in troubleshooting spacecraft attitude control and orbital maneuvering, developing solutions for real-world problems using knowledge gained in aerospace engineering. His collaborative engineering research focuses on industry-relevant challenges, aiming to innovate in maintenance scheduling for companies such as Bombardier. Kumar has received several accolades, including the Canada Research Chair from 2005 to 2015 and the Ontario Early Researcher Award from 2006 to 2011. He is recognized as a Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Astronautics and served as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Fellow from 2001 to 2003. Kumar also contributes as a co-editor for Acta Astronautica and is an expert reviewer for various projects in Ontario.
