Biography

Krista Rule Wigginton is a Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Professional Education at the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the fate and transport of emerging contaminants in aqueous systems, particularly human pathogenic viruses. The Wigginton Research Group aims to develop improved detection methods for viruses, understand the types and concentrations of human pathogenic viruses present in the environment, and utilize various biomolecular analytical chemistry tools to link viral particle characteristics to their behaviors in both natural and engineered environments. Additionally, the group investigates how drinking water and wastewater treatment processes can effectively remove emerging chemical and biological contaminants.
