Biography

Kristen Boon is the inaugural Susan & Perry Dellelce Dean of Common Law. Her vision for the Faculty of Law - Common Law Section focuses on building community through inclusive collaboration. She is committed to ensuring students understand the Indigenous experience in Canada and the dual role of law as a restraining and empowering force. A specialist in international law and contracts, her interests include treaty interpretation, international responsibility, sanctions, and immunities, with expertise in investor/state dispute resolution. Dean Boon has received visiting fellowships from the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Law and the European University Institute. She serves as the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Yearbook of International Law and is a member of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law. Previously, she was an Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Development and has worked as a litigation associate and a clerk for the Canadian Supreme Court. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the New York Bar, and she enjoys raising her three children in Ottawa.
