Biography

Kristen Gore was born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina. She attended North Carolina State University on an Air Force ROTC scholarship, graduating in 2009 with dual degrees in Meteorology and Statistics. In 2014, she earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Columbia University in New York and subsequently moved to Corvallis, Oregon, to join HP as a statistician. At NC State, she conducted air quality research for the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, focusing on the impact of air quality legislation on tropospheric ozone and particulate matter concentrations. Additionally, she worked at the State Climate Office of North Carolina as an environmental meteorologist, developing models to forecast the probability of spring freezes. Her passion for teaching began at Columbia, where she taught undergraduate statistics courses and received the Howard Levene Outstanding Teaching Award in 2012, along with certification in Collaborative Teaching and Technology from the Columbia University Teaching Center in 2014. Before coming to Willamette University, Gore held significant roles at HP Inc. in Corvallis, where she led statistical data strategies and contributed to developing a comprehensive manufacturing sampling strategy. Beyond her professional responsibilities, she dedicates time to STEM outreach, volunteering with LEGO robotics for local K-2 students and conducting annual STEM lessons for middle school students in her hometown.
