Biography

Kristen Schuyten is a Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist and the Performing Arts Rehabilitation Program Coordinator at MedSport, Michigan Medicine. She holds Board Certification as a Sports Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist. Kristen received her undergraduate education from the University of Michigan, and her Master’s and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University. In her role, she conducts staff training evaluations and works closely with Performing Arts patients, providing screening and treatment services. She also coordinates on-site triaging and has established a referral network for students within the School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD). Over the past decade, Kristen has led the injury risk screening initiatives at UM SMTD, tailoring exercise prescriptions for individual screenings. As a member of the medical team for Figure Skating Team USA, she served on the Sports Medicine Committee and provided physiotherapy coverage for the 2018 Olympic Team in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Kristen has presented extensively at both national and international conferences on injury risk screening in performing arts medicine.
