Biography

Kristen Shive is an Ecosystem Sciences Extension Specialist at the University of California Cooperative Extension Program out of UC Berkeley. Her lab group broadly focuses on understanding the impacts of modern wildfires and prioritizing areas for restoration of fire-adapted ecosystems. With over 20 years of experience in conservation, forest fire management, and ecological science, she has worked with organizations such as the National Park Service, Save the Redwoods League, and the Nature Conservancy. She holds an M.S. in Forestry from Northern Arizona University and a Ph.D. in Ecosystem Science from the University of California at Berkeley. Additionally, she has a B.A. in Anthropology with an English minor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
