Biography

Kristian Jessen obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark in 2000, following a Master's degree from the same institution in 1996 and a Bachelor's degree from the Danish Engineering Academy in 1994. His research activities focus on the modeling, simulation, and experimental work aimed at understanding the fundamentals of multiphase and multicomponent flow, sorption, and mass transfer in porous materials. His work contributes to advancing fundamental knowledge in complex processes concerning unconventional resources, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), and hydrogen storage in geological formations. Jessen's research insights into flow transport in porous media, phase behavior, and transport properties of non-ideal mixtures are crucial for developing methods for CO2 sequestration and geological hydrogen generation. He has been recognized with multiple awards, including the 2021 Society of Petroleum Engineers Health, Safety, Environment Award and the Distinguished Member Award.
