Dr. Kristian Unger

Biography

Kristian Unger was appointed as the AI Professor of the Medical Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich as part of the Bavarian High-Tech Agenda. In this role, he bridges the gap between biological and clinical research, linking the Medical Faculty of LMU with local, national, and international clinical-translational research structures. He is involved as an OMICS expert and is a lighthouse leader for "Omics and Liquid Biopsy" at the Bavarian Cancer Research Center BZKF. His research primarily focuses on AI-assisted therapy decision-making in oncology, particularly addressing the wide range of responses to cancer therapies. The goal of his work in personalized cancer treatment is to individualize patient assignments and maximize treatment efficiency by utilizing AI-assisted methods to generate predictive models from complex molecular omics data obtained from clinical samples such as tumor tissues and blood from cancer patients. These predictive models not only forecast clinical responses to tumor therapies but also identify alternative therapeutic approaches.
