Biography

Kristin Brandl is an Associate Professor of International Business at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, and is affiliated with the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria and Copenhagen Business School. She has held visiting research positions at the Center for Emerging Markets at Cornell University, the Fox School of Business at Temple University, and the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. Brandl has served as a visiting researcher for the UN Trade and Development Agency (UNCTAD) and contributed to the World Investment Forum 2023. Prior to her position at UVic, she was a lecturer and assistant professor at Henley Business School, University of Reading. Her research focuses on the impact of national and supranational policy institutions on global business environments and firm strategies, with a particular interest in developing countries and the factors influencing their development processes. She examines global knowledge sourcing related to service innovation activities and has published extensively in several notable academic journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies and the Journal of International Business Policy. In addition to her research, Brandl has received numerous grants and awards, including the SSHRC Insight Grant and the EliteForsk Stipend from the Danish Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Higher Education.
