Kristin Moriah is an Assistant Professor of African American Literary Studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She obtained her Ph.D. in English Literature from the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Moriah’s work mostly focuses on African American literature and culture, Black Studies, Sound Studies, and Performance Studies. She was awarded the Melvin Dixon Prize for her dissertation in African American Studies. In 2022, she received the Yasuo Sakakibara Prize from the American Studies Association and was a Visiting Fellow at the Pennsylvania State University’s Center for Black Digital Research. From 2021 to 2023, she co-directed the Black Studies Summer Institute, an initiative aimed at advancing Black Studies in Canada at the graduate level. Her research and writing have been published in journals such as American Quarterly, TDR, and Early American Literature. Additionally, Dr. Moriah has held fellowships with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and participated in various prestigious programs such as the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia and the Harry Ransom Center. Her academic contributions and various awards position her as a significant figure within her field.
