Dr. Kristin Van Zwieten

Biography

Kristin van Zwieten is a Professor of Law and Finance at the Law Faculty of the University of Oxford and a Fellow at Harris Manchester College. She is the Director of the Commercial Law Centre at Harris Manchester College and a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute. Kristin is also the co-founder and editor of the Oxford Business Law Blog. Before her current role, she served as the John Collier Fellow in Law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Her research interests encompass law and finance, with a particular focus on corporate insolvency law. Her published works include 'Goode Principles of Corporate Insolvency Law' (5th ed, 2018) and 'Commentary on the European Insolvency Regulation' (2nd ed, OUP 2022). She has acted as a consultant for the World Bank on insolvency-related law reform, especially in developing markets, with a notable focus on Indian corporate insolvency law. Kristin's current research projects investigate the impact of COVID-19 on commercial law, assessing how the legal landscape for distressed businesses has altered due to the pandemic and Brexit. She is actively involved in discussions about the relationship between law and economics, including keynote addresses at significant conferences.
