Dr. Kristina Holmqvist Gattario

Biography

Kristina Holmqvist Gattario is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Psychology. She holds a PhD in Psychology obtained in 2013 and became an Associate Professor in 2018. Her research primarily focuses on health psychology and developmental psychology, particularly concerning young people's health, body image, and experiences of bullying and sexual harassment. She is a member of the Gothenburg group for Research in Developmental psychology (GRID) and serves on the editorial board of the international journal 'Body Image.' Kristina teaches both basic and advanced level courses, mainly in health psychology and psychological research methods. Her work has led to several publications, often exploring complex themes such as trauma, peer victimization, and the psychosocial impacts of body image concerns among adolescents. Holmqvist Gattario’s contributions to the field include both quantitative and qualitative studies, emphasizing the importance of understanding young people's perceptions and experiences in relation to societal standards and personal well-being.
