Dr. Kristina Kolbe

Biography

Kristina Kolbe is an Assistant Professor in Sociology at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication. She completed her PhD in Sociology at the London School of Economics and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. Her research explores intersectional inequalities including race, class, and gender, within broader cultural discourses of migration, citizenship, and belonging, focusing particularly on the cultural production and media representations in urban multicultural settings. Her work addresses the politics of cultural production and the discourses surrounding diversity and inclusion in the cultural industries. Kolbe's academic contributions draw upon current debates in sociology and cultural studies, influenced by feminist and postcolonial epistemologies. She has several publications, including forthcoming books and articles in peer-reviewed journals, addressing critical issues related to music, diversity, and the arts.
