Biography

Kristina Lilja is an associate professor and senior lecturer in Economic History at Uppsala University. She completed her PhD studies in Economic History in 2004 at Uppsala University and became an associate professor in 2013. Throughout her career, she has held various administrative roles including deputy head of the department, director of undergraduate studies, and director of the Uppsala Center of Business History. Lilja has extensive teaching experience, having taught financial history and business history since 1996. Her research interests include Financial History, Economic History, Family History, and Consumption History. She has been involved in multiple research projects funded by prominent foundations, focusing on topics such as the changing role of creditors in household economies during the early 20th century and the implications of wealth and human capital for social mobility in Sweden from 1880 to 1950. Lilja has also been actively engaged in editorial work, serving as the editorial secretary for the Scandinavian Economic History Review from 2008 to 2010 and as an editorial assistant for Financial Business History.
