Biography

Kristina Mendicino studies Theater, German Studies, Classics, Comparative Literature at Yale University, Eberhard Karls-Universität Tübingen, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, and Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt Main. She completed her Ph.D. in German Studies at Yale University in 2012 and joined the Brown faculty in 2013, after holding a post-doctoral position at the University of Notre Dame. Mendicino's research focuses on German literature and philosophy from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, as well as Ancient Greek poetry, drama, and philosophy. Her main interests include rhetoric, prophecy, German Idealism, Romanticism, and the translation and poetic philosophical articulations of temporality and choreography. Currently, she is working on a monograph devoted to the prophecies of language in late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century German writing, analyzing the works of G.W.F. Hegel, Wilhelm von Humboldt, Friedrich Hölderlin, and Friedrich Schlegel. Furthermore, she is interested in developing a book-length project on
