Dr. Kristine Dalton

Biography

Kristine Dalton is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo in the School of Optometry & Vision Science. She is a qualified optometrist and has established a prominent position in sports vision and concussion rehabilitation. In 2013, she founded the Vision & Motor Performance Lab, followed by the Sports Vision Clinic at the University of Waterloo in 2014. Under her leadership, the Sports Vision Clinic has expanded its services to include a Brain Injury Clinic, established in 2019. Dr. Dalton specializes in performance vision enhancement and rehabilitation for athletes, particularly those with traumatic brain injuries (concussions). She has authored over 20 papers and presented at around 80 conferences while supervising 40 undergraduate and graduate students. Her research interests focus on sports performance, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and classification systems for Paralympic athletes with vision impairments, contributing to the development of national and international guidelines for concussion management in this demographic. Dr. Dalton is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the British Contact Lens Association, and she received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the University of Waterloo in 2018.
