Biography

Kristle Romero Cortes is an Associate Professor at the School of Banking and Finance at UNSW Business School. Her research interests include financial intermediation, empirical corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, optimization, and regulatory practices within the financial services industry. Dr. Cortes co-founded and co-directs the RISE Finance Lab, which aims to harness finance as a force for positive social and environmental change. Previously, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and participated in the Federal Open Market Committee process. Dr. Cortes has published in notable journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and the Review of Corporate Finance Studies. She holds a PhD in Finance from Boston College and a BA in Economics and Philosophy from Northwestern University.
