Biography

Krste Asanović is a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 1998 and joined the faculty at MIT, earning tenure in 2005. He returned to Berkeley in 2007. Asanović's primary research interests include computer architecture, VLSI design, parallel programming, and operating system design. He is the leader of the RISC-V project at Berkeley and serves as Chief Architect for RISC-V International, also co-founding SiFive Inc. to support the commercial use of RISC-V processors. Furthermore, Asanović is an Associate Director of the Berkeley Wireless Research Center. He has been recognized with an NSF CAREER award, and is a Fellow of both the ACM and IEEE.
