Biography

Krzysztof Czarnecki is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he also serves as the Associate Director of the Waterloo Intelligent Systems Engineering Lab. His research interests are centered around generative software development, model-driven software engineering, and consistency management, among other areas. Czarnecki has previously held the NSERC Bank Nova Scotia Industrial Research Chair focusing on requirements engineering and service-oriented software systems. He co-authored the influential book 'Generative Programming,' which discusses the automation of software component assembly using domain-specific languages. Over the course of his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Premier’s Research Excellence Award in 2004 and the British Computing Society’s Upper Canada Award for Contributions to Industry in 2008. In 2023, he was honored as a University Research Chair at the University of Waterloo, recognizing his significant contributions to the field of software engineering.
