Kuan Liu is an Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. His research primarily focuses on developing methodology for statistical inference in complex longitudinal data and comparative effectiveness research. Liu's methodological interests encompass causal inference, Bayesian statistics, longitudinal data analysis, and the analysis of measurement errors and bias, particularly through semi-parametric and parametric joint modeling. His ongoing projects include Bayesian spatial causal inference models and the design and analysis of observational studies in public health contexts, with a specific emphasis on chronic conditions and rare diseases. Liu is also engaged in research on causal inference methods applied to randomized controlled trials, particularly pragmatic trials, which necessitate innovative methods to estimate treatment effects in light of non-compliance. Liu has significant academic training, holding a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Toronto, an MMath in Statistics–Biostatistics from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc Honours in Statistics from the University of Alberta. He teaches advanced courses on Bayesian methods and causal inference in clinical epidemiology and health care research.
