Biography

Kurt W. Lampe is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, with a rich background in Classics and Philosophy. He earned his BA in Classics from the University of California at San Diego and his PhD with an emphasis in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests are deeply interdisciplinary, focusing on the integration of classical thought with contemporary psychoanalytic and Jungian approaches, particularly in the context of mental health. Lampe has been involved in various projects that explore the intersections of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, religion, and modern wellness frameworks, particularly through a lens of classical polytheism. In addition to his research, he teaches Greek and Latin language and literature, as well as modern topics relating to psychotherapy and its philosophical underpinnings. He has served as the Deputy Head of Subject and has been an active member of the University Senate. Lampe is also committed to supervising postgraduate research that combines ancient and modern methodologies to tackle significant philosophical questions.
